What can you share about the history of RED HORSE?

I'm doing a research paper for a comp 2 class on the history of RED HORSE then focusing in on the 200th Red Horse. If anyone has information about it I would be great full. I am doing other research as well on my own but it would be nice to hear from individuals who belonged to RED HORSE I am able to use personal interviews as a source as well. Any help would be accepted with great appreciation.

SSgt Private RallyPoint Member Just a personnel story.... In Dec 1992, I was part of the combat assault landing at Mogadishu airport. So, I landed, gun trucks at the ready, with the 10th Mountain Division Assault CP (Command Post - 1st elements of 10th Mountain on the ground - 1st conventional Army units on the ground) several days after the MEF and SEALs made their assault landing while covered by TV cameras & lights... When we got off the Aircraft we found there was already an Army Transportation Control on the ground, and an Air Force unit known as Red Horse had just repaired/made the airfield C141 and C5 capable again... So much for being the tip of the spear...

A very close friend of mine, TSgt Grant Kohler, was a part of RED HORSE while deployed with his squadron. He might have some insight for you here. Best of luck on your assignment!

If you're looking for history on the red horse, my uncle was apart of Red Horse from Vietnam all the way into months prior of 9/11 when he retired. If you PM me I will gladly get you in contact with him.

My brother Robert went to Vietnam with 819th RED HORSE. I was a charter member of The 202nd RED HORSE Sq., Florida Air National Guard. based at Camp Blanding, Starke , Florida. Lots of history with RED HORSE.
