I had a feeling of worthlessness when I first retired.. I felt as if my identity was taken, much like in Superman II, when Clark Kent gave up his superpower. Family and their understanding helped me through it. I miss the Military, I miss the friendships the feeling of brotherhood, but realized I really never lost it, even if I am no longer in uniform, my brothers and sisters are still there!
