I am old enough to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis & how President Kennedy exerted strong leadership when many of us thought we would be going into Cuba to take out their missile batteries. I think George H.W. Bush exerted strong leadership when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. To me, if you are willing to truly respect others then the other six Army values, which pertain to all humans not just the Army, will fall into place immediately behind. If you think about it, it makes sense. As an example, if you have no integrity, then you don't respect others. Thus, I have to accept what I find on a sliding scale, voting for the one who demonstrates the most. Trust arises from integrity. So does honesty. Military experience isn't necessary. We've had some damn fine President's who had none and some damn poor ones who had plenty. Political experience is good so long as it hasn't beaten the integrity out of the candidate. Without it, I fear, the candidate is little more than a lamb being led to the slaughter. I know there's someone out there who is honest and dependable, and would make a great President. It's my opinion that it's a crying shame a person has to be wealthy to be our POTUS. If Ben Carson had the military and political background, I would vote for him. I do think he's honest, has a lot of integrity, and can be trusted. But, he seems so naive about how things really work. Integrity is a lifetime characteristic.
