I think Leadership is the most important characteristic I look for in a President. I am old enough to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis & how President Kennedy exerted strong leadership when many of us thought we would be going into Cuba to take out their missile batteries. I think George H.W. Bush exerted strong leadership when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. I think the only time Obama exerted strong leadership when was he gave the OK to capture Osama Bin Laden..but that was the only time in his 7 years in the White House that I can think of.

What I'd really like to see is not a Democrat or Republican, but an AMERICAN!! Someone who truly puts the American people first. Someone who's not swayed by the big money. And above all honesty! But I think the chances of me winning the billion dollar lottery is higher than my hopes for POTUS.

Out of the 5 answers available, I would say integrity but, in reality, the primary characteristic I look for in ANYONE is respect. To me, if you are willing to truly respect others then the other six Army values, which pertain to all humans not just the Army, will fall into place immediately behind. If you think about it, it makes sense. As an example, if you have no integrity, then you don't respect others. Go through each value, and you'll see.

Integrity, hands down. Out of all the candidates right now, Cruz has the most integrity with Carson right behind him. The rest are wishy washy. Clinton and Sanders have ZERO integrity.

Doug Macdonald There are just more than one, but first "Trust", secondly I look at Honesty, then Integrity, then Military Experience. Political background means very little to me. I think we need to have fresh ideas and leadership from the military services or from the private sector. Just my opinion.

I look for integrity but rarely find it. Thus, I have to accept what I find on a sliding scale, voting for the one who demonstrates the most. Trust arises from integrity. So does honesty. Military experience isn't necessary. We've had some damn fine President's who had none and some damn poor ones who had plenty. Political experience is good so long as it hasn't beaten the integrity out of the candidate. Without it, I fear, the candidate is little more than a lamb being led to the slaughter. So, "Integrity" it is, that's my vote and I'm sticking to it.

Doug Macdonald, I would like to see all five characteristics, but I know it's wishful thinking.
I'm like SGM Mikel Dawson, I just want an American, born in America, with all of those attributes. I know there's someone out there who is honest and dependable, and would make a great President. It's my opinion that it's a crying shame a person has to be wealthy to be our POTUS. If Ben Carson had the military and political background, I would vote for him. I do think he's honest, has a lot of integrity, and can be trusted. But, he seems so naive about how things really work. That's my opinion, for what it's worth.

I see by the results that most want integrity. Well folks this is politics most full time politicians have none. They will stab you in the back to further their careers. So I guess I would say trust.

Trust, integrity, and honesty are pretty much the same things, but I would argue that integrity covers them both and goes further than either. Integrity is a lifetime characteristic. The other two could occur at any given point in time, but integrity, either you have it, or you don’t.

You can probably tell which I selected.
