So I enlisted on May 30th and went to basic June 21st but still have not been promoted on AKO or anything. With help I looked for anything that could stop me from being promoted and could not find anything. I have all green health wise, I pass my PT so I&#39;m left wondering what could be stopping me can anyone shed light? What could be stopping me from getting a promotion from PFC to SPC? 2019-07-16T11:07:25-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4818367 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hi rallypoint I was hoping maybe from you guy&#39;s experience that you could shed some light on a weird problem i&#39;m having which is the fact of PFC to SPC. It’s automatic which means you will see it on your ERB as soon as you are promoted. Once you do, and assuming you stay in good standing, then it&#39;s a simple DA4187 signed by your commander. Usually you can clear up this type of question by asking your first- or second-level supervisor, Squad leader, Platoon Sergeant, or use the Company First Sergeant&#39;s &quot;open door&quot; time. Another route is to check with your S1. They may have a person who mostly works on promotions, awards, etc. Response by Lt Col Jim Coe made Jul 16 at 2019 11:53 AM 2019-07-16T11:53:01-04:00 2019-07-16T11:53:01-04:00 MSG Private RallyPoint Member 4818606 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Probably because you haven&#39;t hit your TIS/TIG requirements. Just get with your NCOs to get that info so that you have a better understanding. Sometimes it isnt what you&#39;ve done but haven&#39;t done. Sometimes your section NCO thinks you need more experience. The point is you are asking the wrong people. You need to appropriately ask your section NCO. An appropriate way to ask is something like this. &quot;SGT Johnson, I need some career advice. Do you have some time?......if so......Great, I would like to know what I could do to improve myself to improve my chances of moving up to SPC and then SGT. Would you help me set up a plan to earn promotion?&quot; Put the responsibility for self improvement on yourself and give SGT Johnson the opportunity to be a leader. Make this a win win. You have already received the best advice possible, let this get worked out at the lowest level possible which would be the BEST advice. This is why each troop should always check their records for accuracy and missing info to prevent delayed for favorable actions like promotions and awards.
