I think havin. the SQI of writer and instructor helped me as well as having my Associates and well rounded assignments in various units from combat engineers to FSBs to aviation to MPs which shows a versatility in being able to excel in supporting roles in different units. Ensuring you ERB, OMPF, and photo helps but Ive talked to many seniors that were selected without those 3 matching. Also read the comments from the board results in what the board members look for. The new NCOER is suppose to help in decreasing the inflated 1 over 1 ncoers so I think in a couple of years that should separate the studs from the duds.

I would have like to get

Also look at cool.army.mil for civilian credentialing opportunities
I took 5 ASE Certifications
SOLE demonstrated logistician program.

I can tell you what I did. I volunteered for Drill Sergeant. I did the TDY that no one else wanted to take. I know it was some years ago. However, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about and what is available now.

1SG, definitely great advice, I am currently working as an SGL at BLC and have found the job incredibly rewarding as well as helpful in building my skills and experience for the next level.
