I ran into many many Vietnam Vets. I make sure to give those men a hearty handshake and a "Welcome Home" we owed them that 4 decades ago. I gave my number to two Wounded Warriors, to include them in our "Buddy Check Group" just so that tey know there is a brother that they can call 24/7, and I was humbled by all the people that thanked me for my service. I made sure to thank the Soldiers still in for their bravery. When they thanked me for my service, I replied, "Well Soldier, I enlisted and a war happened and I got sent, YOU enlisted with one going on, KNOWING that you were going, and Soldier, that is closer to brave then I ever stood." God protect those that are on that wall.

Armed Forces Day needs to be moved more than 2 weeks away from Memorial Day. I and 8 of my "brothers" spent the morning setting out flags in 2 local cemeteries preparing for Memorial Day. We just don't have the people or time in a small village to plan 2 military holidays that close together...

If you are referring to "Armed Forces Day", I started the day proudly carrying the American flag in the VFW Post 4361 Color Guard leading the parade in Maybee MI. The rest of the day I hung out at the Post participating in A.B.A.T.E. of Michigan's Region 18 annual Motorcycle Awareness event. At that event, the Post's table, manned by local U.S. Military Vets MC chapter members, was taking donations for Buddy Poppies to help fund our memorial and veterans assistance activities. In short, I spent the day with my VFW comrades, my MC brothers, a lot of local veteran bikers and veterans supporters that all band together to ensure the Michigan state government doesn't interfere with our freedom to ride on two wheels. It doesn't get much better than this!

MAJ David Vermillion not that we are competing but, I got the 1st place! I spent my day with 77 WWII, Korean War, Vietnam and even Afghanistan Veterans. One of the best days of my short career.
