What diet supplements would you recommend for a dog? We are taking our dog on a hike of the Appalachian Trail?

Dogs use up enormous amounts of calories when working. Walking 8-15 miles a day depending on terrain while keeping packed weight to a minimum is important so we're trying to find viable supplements to dog chow

find out what diseases & vectors are in the hiking area. damn near everything in the Southern part of the AT is a heart-worm vector if you are hiking in the south get your dog checked for heart worms FIRST and then get a long term anti-worm treatment.

the best diet nutrition for dogs is salmon but it's expensive in the lower 48. I would go with chicken as a meat.
