Benefits, on the other hand, are more tangible than the cash received. I&#39;m not entirely sure you could qualify for Tricare for Life, which helps with prescription medications, but educational benefits should still exist for you. Check with your local first sergeant or S-1 if you&#39;re still on active duty. Make sure you know your benefits before your ETS time. No dental or vision unless at 100% OR your disability rating is related to dental/vision.<br /><br />Military benefits really end at the termination of your active duty time, save for your GI BILL. If you retire you get a retired ID Card and can use the PX. Regardless, your question is really two different components of being a veteran and unrelated. Your 1SG for instance has NOTHING to do with your Discharge Type or disability rating. All veterans are now qualified to shop on line at AFEES. Most of the time medication for the disability will come thru the VA for free.
