What do army Counterintelligence agents (35L) do at the tactical level?

For any CI soldiers out there... I'm looking at 35L (Counterintelligence agent) as a future career move. Everyone focuses on the strat side... I want to know more about tactical CI. Keeping with OPSEC of course...

What could someone expect being part of a CI team in either an E-MI BN or an E-MIB. What sort of training do CI agents get regularly (how often do they do MOS training, warrior tasks/tactical training, etc)?

Also, on deployment do CI teams go outside the wire/go on missions? If so, do they operate organically with maneuver units or do they operate in their own teams? Does this MOS see combat?

Also, are CI products generally written reports or PowerPoints (aside from TARP and SAEDA briefs) I understand they have their own section on Annex B...

I was stationed surreptiously overseas & ran into 1 of the spooks who knew what I did (& I knew what he did, to some extent). After I recognized him from afar, I told my Supervisor that he knew me. My supervisor talked to his supervisor. We then met, accidentally, at a function. E-MI Bn is new terminology to me (I ETS's during the Persian Gulf Blockade), but he & I were both members of the 311th MI BN w/101st.

A funny thing happened at lunch at the NATO HQ, AFCENT HQ, dining hall one day long ago. I have a friend who maybe possibly might have been a CI spook. I walked into the dining hall and there was this table full of guys in civilian clothes (everyone else goes to the dining hall in uniform) and my friend, who shall henceforth be called Casper, was sitting with this group of maybe possibly spooks all having lunch together. I remember thinking, well, if Casper if there, then that must be a table full of spooks. I also remember thinking it wouldn't be too hard to get a list and pictures of all the spooks in AFCENT HQ. I seriously would not do anything like that, but it wouldn't be too hard for the wrong guy to do it.

From a tactical stand point, you will complete normal Soldiering duties like taskings, motorpool, etc. While deployed you will conduct CI activities on the base you are on, no outside the wire missions unless with a different organization. Deployed, we are the shield trying to protect inside the wire from the bad guys.

When did the Army change the MOS from 97B to 35L?
