What do I do if I have less than 12 months remaining until ETS when submitting a warrant packet? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-do-i-do-if-i-have-less-than-12-months-remaining-until-ets-when-submitting-a-warrant-packet <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hello. I&#39;ve been working towards putting in a warrant packet since I&#39;ve arrived at my unit. I project that the time I will be finally submitting my packet Will be early 2017. My ETS date is March 2018. I&#39;d like to figure out what I have to do if this happens to be my case? The usarec website doesn&#39;t clarify what to do if an applicant has less than 12 months remaining. Thank you! An extension will make things easier to deal with.<br />In the summary part of your application (at the end of the resume) mention that you are aware of<br />the enlistment requirement and that you have (or will at earliest opportunity) extend your current contract to meet the requirements. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 12 Mar 2016 13:46:59 -0500 2016-03-12T13:46:59-05:00 Response by CW5 Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 12 at 2016 8:21 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-do-i-do-if-i-have-less-than-12-months-remaining-until-ets-when-submitting-a-warrant-packet?n=1375462&urlhash=1375462 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There is a link to ask questions for applicants and potential applicants. A contract extension may take few extra days, but could be your best option if non-selection occurs. I went through the same dilemma, my unit career counselor was doing his research for an extension but it was taking too long so I decided to just re-up for two years. As some stated in a previous comment, upon completion of WOCS, you will enter a new 6 year contract anyways. You will either have to extend or Reenlist depending on your service goals. If you are submitting a Warrant Officer Packet then you might as well reenlist as there may be bonuses are duty assignments available for you and your current MOS. That will also allow you to the time you will need to get your packet together and ensure it is correct and as strong as you can make it. -Chief CW5 Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 15 Mar 2016 12:15:41 -0400 2016-03-15T12:15:41-04:00 Response by CW3 Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 15 at 2016 2:17 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-do-i-do-if-i-have-less-than-12-months-remaining-until-ets-when-submitting-a-warrant-packet?n=1381225&urlhash=1381225 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I think you will have to reenlist. The only reason I would say this is because you have to give the WO Corps 7 years service in order to retire as a warrant. If you do not want to prolong your career, I would just ETS and try another profession. They can spoon feed you the answers to all your questions instead of polling a social media platform like this. Do your homework first before asking random people for help.
