SPC Private RallyPoint Member 1286197 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I&#39;ve been a SPC for almost 2 years in the USAR. I have completed SSD1, have a passing (and current APFT) and am attending BLC most likely in April. I was wondering what I have to do after graduating from BLC. Do I still have to submit a packet to the board, or do I just ensure all of my qualifications are properly uploaded into iPerms. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. What do I have to do after BLC to get promoted? 2016-02-07T10:49:36-05:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 1286197 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I&#39;ve been a SPC for almost 2 years in the USAR. They should be your first point of contact on this. I am not aware of the steps for the reserve component as I am active but most of what you said is accurate and the packet is usually for the promotion board. Anyone else from the reserves able to chime in? Make sure you have all qualifications, certificates, achievements in it. I'd suggest having it ready before WLC, that way you can submit it as soon as you return. This will serve as an azimuth check to see where you stand and how your FLL views you. If he says you are ready for the next board, then yes make sure all of your records are straight and initiate a packet; although with the new STEP program, I have seen SPC get selected without putting a packet in. Either way, make sure you get that counseling so you know where you stand. Anything that is missing you will need to get fixed. Your career is your responsibility, not your NCO's. Next you will want to stand out amongst your peers and make it known you are ready to be a SGT and not just an E-5. Ask your NCO for an old MOI to study! Everything should fall in to place if you have good leadership. Good luck! But in future promotions. Your squad leader should have had this discussion with you as soon as he/she found out about you going to BLC. If you want to become a non-comissioned officer, act like one. Type your packet ( use the same font and type face throughout ). Ensure all of your documents are legible and dress right dress. Ensure your answers match your documents. (for example, if you indicate you have been deployed, there should be a supporting DD214) If you have transcripts, ensure they are true and certified ( not print outs from a web site). And aim for Commandants list at BLC. Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 26 at 2016 11:41 PM 2016-03-26T23:41:03-04:00 2016-03-26T23:41:03-04:00 2016-02-07T10:49:36-05:00
