I posted a few weeks ago about The levy office having issues adding my step daughter to my amended orders. This is an update to that situation.

- Levy was able to use documents from my Wife's home state where they tried to serve him, we found a lawyer to take our case as well.

I haven't gotten immediate assistance from my proper Chain of command, so I've had to take matters in my own hand and I've found out that I need more time to get organized.

- Levy and my Battalion S1 told me that I needed to fill out a DA 4187 for a 90 day deferment (I typed up and signed It before I took leave at the end of January)

- We are currently doing the Family Overseas Screening portion of the Order Amendment to add my family.

- I was told that because it is so close to my report date, I may not be able to amend my orders because my Unit S1 was still working on my 4187.

What do I need to do to make sure that my family is taken care of?

I canceled my HHG move to please my leadership last month because they needed me for LFX, but now I'm being told that I need to act like I'm still leaving in March. I haven't been told how and what I needed to do at this point and there is never a definitive answer when dealing with them.

SGT (Join to see) glad I can help. Your deferment shouldn't take any longer than a month, if it doesn't move out of your BN S1 by the end of next week, get your command involved. It needs to be signed by your BDE CDR so it will take your BN CSM and CDR to push it faster

Rant Inbound:
TL;DR - I last heard that the deferment paperwork were in Battalion CSM and CDR's hands along with my PCS DA 31 " in case the deferment didn't go through "
The Levy office let my step child and wife go through the Overseas screening process,
my kid got a go with EFMP. The Doctor apparently got a call from Battalion to push us through, but my Wife couldn't get an appointment until march 03.

I did the paperwork for the deferment on the 29th of January, It was sitting in my Unit S1 shops office since February 9th. I got a random text from someone in my Platoon saying that I needed to act like I'm still leaving when I get back from leave. My initial report date is March 10, Senior leadership has been tracking this entire situation, but didn't give me any advice on what to do or if cancelling or deferring was even an option, I had to find out from my battalion S1.

SGT (Join to see) their job is to tell you to continue PCS until you get a deferment because that's what HRCs guidance is. You are always required to continue PCS until you are deferred.

Your battalion has absolutely no ability to push your screening through EFMP. EFMP serves your post, your battalion CSM and CDR are one of 50+ O5 LTC BN level Commanders on your post. Basically, your EFMP doc works for someone at the hospital, and processes applications in the order received. Your command calling is basically a courtesy request.

EFMP and levy are just following the process they need to follow and your command is just following what they're told to do. The way you can influence this is by putting pressure on getting your 4187 signed and processed.
