They had just built brand new two-story and three story housing units that were better than ANYTHING off base. Amazing.

The weather is kind of dreary and wet with a lot of cloud cover 8-9 months out of the year so expect to be in the field when it's wet. However, the summer's are AMAZING and Seattle and Portland are two of the best cities to visit in America. Can't speak to Hawaii or Germany but I know a lot of soldier's that have been to both and most of them pick Germany over Hawaii. As 11B no matter where you go out of the 3, you are likely to deploy. I have been to Germany and Hawaii and now frequent Washington...i like them all for their own reasons...but for your mos you are going to have about the same field time at any of them. We get a four day every month and the trainings aren’t bad, we usually do trainings here in Europe for a month or two every year or so, again, it also depends on what unit you’re going to be with, I’m with 173rd. You’re going to love germany, if you like traveling, beer or nature. It is a very good duty station as everyone will tell you. You will work hard and with todays current events, you will need to know what is going on around you. Do not underestimate Germany. Yes you will have a good time there but you are also a target. Germany is a strategic location for deployment as well. It is fairly close to the action in the middle east and Russia and Poland. I hope you enjoy your time there if you go. Use the buddy system and stay on your toes. The best beer in the world is there and the travel opportunities are unbelievable. I spent a total of 7 years in Hermany and I wouldn't change that for anything. Hawaii, very high cost of living and Ft Lewis-Mchord rains all the time. Germany, yep, choose Germany. Infantry at JBLM does frequently conduct field exercises. But units in Germany are also on constant rotations in support of NATO missions.
