What do NCOs require Soldiers to memorize or know?

Hello Army NCOs, I'm asking for help to dust off an Army NCO Guide App. I'm now commissioned for a number of years and out of touch with what goes on at the squad/platoon level. Out on a limb here... I think my LRS soldiers performed above and beyond because they knew how we planned (and participated), so to that end I would say an understanding of the MDMP process or at the least an overview of how plans are created and what goes into that process. TLP's are nice, and needed; but the more our soldiers understand, the better they will be able to ensure CDR intent is met.

If nothing else, soldiers need to know basic skills such as land navigation, how to take care of their gear, personal hygiene, Combat Life Saving skills, and basic rifle marksmanship. But above all, how to be a team player and not play on their phones constantly when there is work to be done. There is always something to be accomplished!

Include the Soldier's Creed and NCO Creed somewhere in the app where they can be quickly referenced if for some reason it has been forgotten.

A basic SHARP section including the reporting options could be useful info

Pretty much everything in the Warrior skills level 1 handbook. That is a few hundred pages of good information covering everything that happens at the basic infantry level from land navigation to basic survivalist skills.

What isn't taught in Skill 1 are what would be helpful in modern military. How to practice situational awareness, interacting with the media and civilians in OCONUS and CONUS, and surface level information of terrorism and insurgency.

If your intent is to make a study guide for boards, then add in all your creeds, codes, and ethios that they like you to know. If your intent is to be a guide for real knowledge a soldier needs then I suggest making it something that is a one stop shop for all those common-to-all smart cards soldiers have to memorize like 9 line MEDEVAC, Call for Fire, and that sort of thing.

Hey all, apologies for starting a discussion and dropping off the net. Thanks for the feedback. 1SG Jeremy Plaxton the intent of the app was more for quick knowledge for NCOS rather than a board study guide. MDMP is easy enough to put in, I didn't know how much NCOs in the Platoon would use MDMP. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member SHARP is a good one, I suppose I should look at AR 350-1 and check the other mandatory training items.
