If they want to tall their Islamic Holidays let them. But allow us to keep ours the same or else I will start a thing where what they call their religion offends me and they need to change it. Why did so many fight for these freedoms just to let them be taken away and we are told what and how things must be done for our families. I will not change to the Islamic ways and I will still celebrate Christmas and say Christmas always it is my right too do so. Are we Islamics or Americans now days? Will people move to another place or stand up and be Americans. Because running from will not do any good it will eventually take over. I'm a Christian woman and will worship my way and so will my grandchildren. It's a slippery slope, and it started with Christmas. A lot of my muslim friends would agree with me on that as well. They know that most adults are set in their ways and content with the current outlook of what the Islamic religion stands for, and how it conflicts with the American way.

Sadly, this is how change is met in America. Desegregation of schools had to happen before blatant easily acts were frowned upon.

Understanding the differences in people's and cultures takes time. It also takes people open to change. Being that thus is RP, and very military oriented, I can understand that for the great part of 2 decades, we have been focused on fighting others who claim the Islamic religion, but I have been taught that in America, you are entilted to your beliefs without having to suffer undue harassment or discrimination. I also know that this isn't always true. None the less, I fought, and fight for that ideal. The constitution doesn't exist for only Christians; it is representative of all people's of America. Hence, "We the people..."

I highly doubt that learning more about Those whom we have only been shown one side of will impact the next generation negatively. To ignore others would be ignorant. I know that ignorance is common in these situations, but cultural awareness and expanding your horizons and children's horizons hurt no one, ever.

In closing, we all share this Great Country, This earth, and America and Americans should be the most open to changes by now. Or not. Not because of PC bullcrap, but just because that is what it is, a break during a specific season. Now how does a school deal with Ramadan, do they not serve lunch during this time as to not offend the Muslim students? The article isn't working so I can't read it. However, our country has gone too PC because people get "offended" by even the smallest thing. There is no organized effort by the Islamic community to change the name of Christmas, but there will always be extremists who will. But, it would be like saying all white people want blacks and Hispanics to leave America because the KKK says it. The Islamic community is no more homogenized than the Christian community. I am a strict Constitutionalist and it says that religion should be separate from government. Unfortunately, that would mean removing the name of Christmas and Passover from school materials unless all religions desired by the community are included. But, nothing should be done unless requested by parents. That being said, I was raised a Christian and am now an Atheist and still say, "Merry Christmas". If they say "Happy Chanuka", I will respond in the same.

Your last sentence says it all. "Do your own thing and I will do mine and we will get along better." I might change it to "Do your own thing at home...".
