I am a recruiter for Comcast and it has been a fantastic way for me to reach out to members of this community and get the word out for jobs and career fairs we have had in different regions around the country. I have the utmost respect and gratitude for the Military and their families. Connecting people to available job opportunities is my small contribution. It really helps to have this resource to show hiring managers that maybe did not think to focus on candidates from a military background before. The recruiters on here know that you have great skills and training. Personally, if I can fill a position with a military candidate it gives me more job satisfaction knowing I helped our men and women in uniform. No other sector makes people more desirable and competitive than the military, every sector benefits and prospers with military experience, leadership, and growth they bring to that sector.

RallyPoint is a rich environment for civilian recruiters to tap the most talented and competitive applicant available. They advertise their job openings here because they realize the value. I believe this has potential to be one of the greatest tools us veterans, and also preparing to separate service members, could have. Working in the Talent Acquisition arena for the last 15 months, one thing is for sure, communication is the key (all us vets have heard that before, haha) in finding talent. Getting the word out to a specific location and attracting the right talent is vital. Rally Point gives veterans (and family members) the EXCLUSIVE opportunity to see what jobs are available in a certain area and potentially give them an opportunity a civilian job board/community wouldn't. We, veterans, have a tremendous network and we have potential to continue to make an impact for the betterment of our fellow veterans in so many different ways with Rally Point! Anything that can help a recruiter cherry pick is a plus. Less fuss. For those outfits that have seen the benefit of Vets and are not afraid of fishing in that pool, places like RP are well stocked. The commercial outfits can pursue more "bias" legally than the Feds, etc. So if they want to focus on a limited segment of the population, they can. The Fed side did come closer to this with the Hire a Hero Program, Disabled Vet preferences, etc. Both those programs provide much less leverage than you'd think. But a Civ side contractor can quickly look at RP membership input and either hire or cast a bigger net; their option. It's a Win-Win opportunity. As to a dialog, it depends. Recruiters are busy folk. If they don't see strength, they move on. A polite let down would be in order. Sometimes they cast a line only to be told they can't hire that now. It's a volatile world. Recruiters and Business Development types have the hardest jobs at times. They are the people power and communications bridges between the company and the outside. They have to be on the fly translators, matchmakers, and risk managers. It can get tough. My hat's off to the good recruiters and BD types out there. CAPT Kevin B. It is great to learn form our veterans and where possible, connect them with opportunity. It is an honor to do what we can to participate on the site and support our veterans.
