What do the spn codes on our dd214 mean?

It's a separation code. It's a 3 digit numeric/alphanumeric that represents the reason for a discharge. 201 is ETS, 264 is unsuitability, character and behavior disorders, 294 is special court martial, etc, etc.

Well I have not seen a new one in years. On Copy 4 (I believe) then Code was a Re Enlistment Code. Mine for example is "4R" meaning not eligible for re enlistment due to Retirement

I am trying for a job as a jailer in my home county and I don't have copy# 4 of my DD214. So I don't know the SPN code but I am afraid it might be a bad one. If it is a bad one, can I get it upgraded, and if so how would I go about it?
