Ma'am I tell them it was a privilege to serve in the military in such a great nation and especially in the USMC. I thank them for their respect and let them know that it was people like them that made me write that blank check years ago. Ma'am

What an honorable and great response; Cpl James Waycasie. And Nice of You to include them in your response.

Sad to say in my generation no one ever said that to me or my brother. Glad the same is not true for my son who is now serving. However, if they did I would say, "It was an honor and thank you for your support."

I guess God blessed me with being born in Georgia, most folks around here really appreciate all Military persons both past, present, and even slap JROTC on the back and tell them they are headed in the right direction. PO2 Jonathan Scharff like SPC Margaret Higgins said, we all thank you, and are proud of you Sir and your brother and son too.

Cpl James Waycasie thank you sir. It has not escaped me that living in this very blue state has played a big part in that... ;)

That is a most honorable military way of thanking those that out rank you.
Or maybe you thank all the service men and women like that. (I address everyone as Ma'am or Sir- in civilian life.) In any case, CONGRATULATIONS PO2 Jonathan Scharff!

I usually express my appreciation, and then I thank them for supporting us and let them know that they are just as appreciated.

That is a very humble way to say thank you; and to include the other person in your "thank you". God sure Loves you; MSgt Curtis Ellis. Because, as you know- He loves humility.
