It was one of my favorite shows and never saw anything racist about it. That being said, I understand and respect/support Warner Bros' decision to distance itself from the flag. Since it used by White Supremist as a rally flag, it's associated with hate. It's not "General Lee's" fault, but he has take one for the team thanks to the KKK and give up coat of arms. They are only acting to protect themselves from what they predict will be a public backlash. Would there be a backlash? Maybe, but large companies like that tend to err on the side of caution. I have disliked the S.C. flag for a long time, as they started flying it in the 60's as a counter protest to civil rights. Private citizens should have freedom of expression, but government should not express itself in a way that favors one group over another. It will lose some value.
So should we be offended by all those low riders, vans, trucks, cars and motorcycles that have custom paint jobs depicting near naked women in provocative poses? Should we be offended by bumper stickers and other stickers on vehicles that have offensive sayings?
In all honesty what is really being accomplished by removing the flag from the roof of the General Lee, which now can no longer truly be called the General Lee.
