What do you think about the new DTS Lodging requirements, that become mandatory on June 15th, 2015?

According to Section 914 of the FY15 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 113-291) you are required to book your lodging through DTS in several pilot areas CONUS. I have already started using this feature.

Lodging

On June 15, 2015, the Department of Defense launched a pilot of a new Integrated Lodging Program which includes preferred commercial lodging providers and integrates the ability to book government (DoD) lodging properties through the Defense Travel System (DTS).

I always prefer to book my own hotel.

We'll see if it is more comprehensive than before...I just completed travel for CNO/CAO in April and one of the primary hotels in the area (major chain) was not even listed as an option.

I'm guessing the next logical step is to require choosing hotels that are less than per diem. You're already supposed to select the discounted contract carrier flights when available.
