I was the DS/GS Maintenance Manager at Camp Doha, Kuwait, for 3 years. We had well over 100 M1A1s that we maintained for the US Army there. My opinion is, if they don't have the parts or expertise to maintain them, it won't be long before they can't be used for anything.

Roger that..soon these idiots, without being able to read a 10 manual english, will not have a working pac and maybe the only thing that will work will be the 50 cal.( Iraqi tanks have M2 replaced with Dshk) and use Iranian ammo. Sounds good CPT seals. Glad to know that we can cut off their supply chain if they don't play right or we use an A-10 on them if they go to ISIL. Scary to think that our enemies have them though. Iran reversed engineered the F4 Phantom fighter and I hope they don't do the same with the Krupps 120mm gun and the MBT.

Another good reason to keep the A-10s. Our planes can destroy $80 million (10 tanks at $8 million a piece in 1988 dollars) of M1a1s that Isil stole and we ended up zapping them!

GySgt John Olson - true gunny. it is a spoils of war when the Iraqi officer corps cut and ran instead of fighting ISIL. Rumor has it that saddams officers that were not caught in OIF (the redheaded guy on the playing card) made deals with the Iraqi Officers in Mosul. My retired vietnam vet col. said the South Vietnamese put up a better fight when Vietnam was falling. The army cut and ran leaving refurbished Ukranian tanks, new M1s tanks and warehouses full of new weapons and ammo. I remember seeing a yard full of 5 tons in Mosul. They have at least a thousand humvees. At least a heavy brigade or more worth of warstock. I know much has been used up or destroyed but this reminded me of what we left behind in Vietnam in 1975. The vietnamese army fought some while the Iraqi army officers fled and eventually the ones that were calling for help and hearing no commo knew they were being abandoned.

GySgt John Olson - True and AK 47 was what vets in nam used as a weapon that would not jam and with better stopping power..a 7.62 x 39 still hits hard!

I just wanted to say that the Iraqi Hezbollah militia is a separate organization from the Lebanese Hezbollah. They're still not good guys per say, but just wanted to clarify for people.

Just goes to show what happens when we leave IRAQ as a campaign promise and no SOFA agreement. Operation New Dawn, leaving Iraq, fostered this injustice.
