Nevertheless, the number of times as a military officer Jackson disobeyed orders in order to perpetrate massacres and genocides, the number of times as a private citizen he killed men in duels, and the fact that as a president he ignored a supreme court ruling protecting the Cherokee Nation and used the army to force them from their lands in a genocidal march to a land without resources indicates he rises above the norm for unacceptably unethical behavior.
