What do you think of the 100,000 jobs mission?

The 100,000 Jobs Mission, as it is stated on the mission's website, began in 2011 as a coalition of eleven companies. These companies were "committed to hire 100,000 veterans by 2020". Have you ever heard of it before? Do you think the companies mean what they are saying and doing or do you think it is for show? Do any of you work in one of these companies and have good or bad experiences with them?

While I definitely applaud the goal, my question is what is the retention rate for those who get hired as part of the 100k? I've heard that it is not that good six months out. This is something I'd like to see Rallypoint address, if nothing else via a three part poll for users of RP who have been hired as part of this. First question would be whether someone was hired under it, 2nd would be duration in the position and third would be whether or not the company had adopted a Veteran supportive environment (not just Vet friendly).

Elizabeth Malkin, I've heard of it and I've even applied for a job with Amazon before under their veteran's program. However I never heard anything back, not even a "thank you for applying but we decided to go with someone else" type response. All I ever got was an automated response saying "we are reviewing your qualifications."

I think its just a show, and they probably do hire some veterans, mostly mid level to senior officers, but I never heard of any enlisted people getting a job with one of these companies. I applied with many of these companies but never heard a single peep from them after submitting an application. In my opinion I think they are doing a feel good campaign saying "look at how we are taking care of veterans, are we not great". And I do understand that there is not a job for everyone, but common courtesy would be to send a quick e-mail or letter saying sorry your not what we are looking for currently.
