It's an insurance policy for the tiny possibility that I could carry EVD back to my loved ones or even the public at large. My problem is that he seems to dismiss the sacrifices being made by service members as insignificant compared to those of health care workers. I would never claim that we are more important than any other American citizen, but surely we are equal.<br /><br />What gets me is that he says it's different to require quarantine for military members because we aren't here voluntarily anyway. Well, most may have been ordered here (not me personally, I actually volunteered to ship to Liberia for an unrelated mission and was here before this huge outbreak) but last I checked it was an all-volunteer military. Further insult to injury are statements that a mandatory quarantine would force these medical volunteers to spend even more time away from family. Is a service member's time away from family less important, especially given all the time we've already spent away for combat and other deployments?<br /><br />Again, I am fine with the quarantine in and of itself as a precaution. What I am not fine with is being looked upon as if we are lesser people than others.
