What do you think we should do in Iraq?

I spent 15 months in Northern Iraq, and traveled frequently to Mosul, Kirkuk, Baiji, and Tikrit. It is hard for me to imagine all of our work in vain. What is the answer?

Just let them fight it out among themselves. We did our mission, provided them the tools required to defend their land and now it is time for them to put that training into effect. Should we monitor the situation, yes but we already put enough skin in that game and don't need to see a repeat.

My only concern is that inaction now will cause us to pay a higher price later. I know it's not a perfect analogy, but would WW2 have been less nasty if we had gotten involved sooner?
