GoArmy makes it seem like you will actually be involved in combat, but the videos make it seem like you just sit and stare at a computer.

I have been a 14G for four years now and I absolutely love my job. Honestly your experience will depend on what echelon level you are in at your next unit. I am at a Headquarters Battery and I have operated in a line unit, as well as mobilized in support of Operation Nobel Eagle. At a line unit, most of your work will be operated in a field environment and in a real war moving with the front line. That entails moving the radar and shelter every day and re-emplacing the equipment. Also at that level you typically will be in a four man team operating an FMTV/Sentinel and a shelter. Your mission is to continuously relay the real time air picture which is tracking cruise missiles, helos, and fixed wing aircraft in order for the next higher echelon to process intelligence and deconflict the airspace with FA and the air force. This is also where I get the most enjoyment out of my mos, because it is a field environment but at the same time we are operating computers, radios, and the radar.

Any other level you could be sitting in a battery, battalion, regiment, TOC providing air track updates to the commanders so that they can properly adjust fire to the situation. This includes analyzing when and where air tracks are populating within our area of operation and condensing the radar data from several sentinel sites in to one large air picture that is used at the division level for battlefield planning. In short, there is far more that goes in to being a Gulf that is too much to explain in one sitting and that I absolutely love my job.SSG Private RallyPoint MemberMon, 06 Aug 2018 23:12:44 -04002018-08-06T23:12:44-04:00Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 7 at 2018 12:12 PM

It was the best thing that ever happened to me as a Soldier. In the five years I have in the branch, I have realized how good the ADA branch is. Also, 14G MOS is a feeder MOS into warrant Officer. Career opportunities are great, I was able to complete my AA, BA, and I am working towards my Master's. You can be stationed in great locations such as Japan, Guam, Germany, and Hawai'i. I will definitely recommend you to look into the MOS. Furthermore, companies like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon are always looking for former Airdefenders to add to their teams.MSG Private RallyPoint MemberTue, 07 Aug 2018 12:12:41 -04002018-08-07T12:12:41-04:00Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 2 at 2019 8:01 PM
