What does a 6C re-enlistment code mean?

Question for Recruiters : I have a couple of friends asking me about their re-enlistment code being a 6C, what does it means?

I was always understood if the code on.your DD214 is anything other than RE-R1 there is some sort of issue with your time in the service. Not sure what the other codes mean but RE-R1 is what you want.

What branch helps a lot. The Navy and Marines are the only ones I know that have an RE 6 Re-enlistment code, no letter designation I have ever seen. RE-6 means ineligible because of high year tenure. I have no idea if that would keep you out of the Army or National Guard. Talk to a recruiter.
