A lot of traveling and being attached to other units to assist. And just about everything mechanized field related

I was 14R, Bradley Linebacker Crew member and since we really didn't use stinger missiles we were basically cav scouts

I was light on a Humvee I rucked everywhere 20 k a night was not unheard of. We would set op's for 3 days on end. 3 soldiers 3 days cold and hot as crap. Kick in doors in combat and have a good sotmach. FUN

Mostly riding horses with some cool spurs on your boots and a fancy hat....

Suppose to be Recon but most my scout friends rode around mech units doing infantry stuff.

the "SCOUT" is the "Eyes and Ears" of the commander, Find them, Fix Them, Report them, and let the Command kill them..., then you go and hide eat some pogey bait, until the next mission. Oh, and yes you might have all of the above happen to you also...then you die. Not trying to be funny here, as an early Armored Recon Specialist MOS 11D, then reflagged to new MOS Cavalry Scout 19D, it was the most rewarding years of my Military career. I loved being assigned to an Infantry Battalion back in the day...we were special and most Bn Commanders loved to say "SCOUTS OUT"...and we loved to here it....just sayin

A few references, FC 17-98-2, SH 21-76. Other than that I would say mostly Screen, Guard and recon missions.
