What does everyone really think about accepting Syrian refugees into the United States?

There is no way to vet them. push for temporary camps in Turkey, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, fund them with American assistance, and end the war in Syria. No military aged males in the US without convincing evidence of previous support to America.

I agree sir. The information to vet most of these refugees does not exist.

1stSgt (Join to see) - First; When did America become "The Risk-Averse Society"?

Using "the risk is too high" as a standard, the United States of America would still be confined to the area occupied by the original colonies (and might well never have had an 'American Revolution').

As soon as you say "The risk is too high." when the assessment is based on uninformed (and manipulated) emotion rather than facts THE TERRORISTS HAVE WON.

I feel that it shouldn't be the responsibility of our Nation as the default. But, I guess things will never change as long as that plaque on the Statue of Liberty is so inviting. We need to harden up our Nation's security and at the same time harden our hearts a bit as well. Now is the time for disciplined emotion.

We need to remember that people from that region are the one's going off the deep end more than naught. a terrorist can look anyway, but given their affinity towards certain ideaologies such as Sharia Law; I believe that a steady resolve of meticulous background checking is called for. These people come here and make no effort to contribute to our Nation and adopt our Values. They want the eat the cake, but won't help in its preparation and the upkeep of the kitchen.

SGT Jose Perdelia-Torres - Sergeant; Considering that there are someplace between 4,000,000 and 11,000,000 (depending on how you categorize them) Syrian refugees, 10,000 hardly counts as "default".

Now if the US government was talking about taking in a significant portion (statistically that would be 10% or more) of them [which works out to between 400,000 and 1,100,000 refugees] I might have some sympathy for "default", but when the US government is talking about taking in between 0.09% and 0.25% of the refugees, I don't. [NOTE:- If all of the Syrian refugees were parcelled out in equal numbers between all of the countries of the world, the US would receive approximately 0.54% of them.]
