Usually when one does become a DS, they typically are sought after and stand out more than their peers, due to the prestigious honors of being a DS. That in part usually sets the individual apart from others as far as discipline and the willingness to take on more than that which is demanded of him/her (i.e. training soldiers, being a leader or role model...). So you 1SG is simply telling you that your interest in becoming a DS is a great (fast) step in your progression in the ARMY. Also, the disclaimer also is that just because you are, if you become a DS, that things will be handed to you because they won’t. It is also not the essential part of accelerating through the ranks, one must know their job and possess the ability to lead. I’m sure others will chime in but I hope I have you somewhat of a understanding as to what the 1SG meant. Can't be scared to ask questions from your leadership. Sure, you might get a wise ass comment but so what? What if told you to do something and you didnt understand? Would you just walk away and not do it because you were too scared to get clarification?
I remember, it may be weird to ask dumb questions, but at the end of the day we all put our pants on one leg at a time. Just use proper customs and courtesies and you'll be fine. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 02 Jun 2019 02:46:15 -0400 2019-06-02T02:46:15-04:00 Response by CW4 Craig Urban made Jun 3 at 2019 3:30 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-does-fast-tracking-mean?n=4692666&urlhash=4692666

Means you need to be at least Sgt. My opinion.
