What does it mean when you get deployment orders and an amendment on the same day?

I got orders to deploy in a week but same day got amendment orders with the only thing is saying is order number. What’s this mean?

SGT Private RallyPoint Member did they just change your order number? If so they likely issued a duplicate order number.

Sounds like many changes....deployment for overseas? another Stateside base? Ask your Supervisor, and go to your PAC to find out for certain.

The order number is the same. I was told they picked someone else for deployment but trying to make sure so I can get ready.

I have something close......when I was in USAF on first hitch I worked in Wing assignments for enlisted. We got a levy for an airman to be rotated to Turkey. We cut the orders and the airman departed. While in enroute he had PCS leave...2 days into his leave we received instructions to TDPFO him (at home) (TEMPORARY DUTY Pending further orders). In other words stay home until you hear from us. Guess what? 2 months later I was cleaning my files up which I had assumed from previous individual servicing said files. I discovered that NO FURTHER ORDERS HAD BEEN ISSUED TO HIM the guy was sitting at home waiting as instructed. The *fecal matter hit the rotating oscillator* When I told the shop NCOIC what I had found. Neither the troop who was TDPFO or myself were in any trouble...….the guy whose desk I had assumed definitely was. The troop collected his back pay and got a merit advancement which he had missed and the order to send him to Turkey was cancelled (he got England instead)

Sgt, take a look at both orders and see if the amendment orders have a different FY on it. I believe they are expecting you to be on deployment before the start of the new FY
