SPC Private RallyPoint Member Duties will change during state emergency duty. You will be focusing on keeping the community safe: sandbags, recovery, delivery of goods, rescue, etc. Everyone "loses" their MOS/AFSC in order to make sure the community is safe/secure.

It's also kind of based on rank as well. As PVT your going to be given menial work under supervision like filling sandbags, loading or unloading trucks, or monitoring a radio during the red eye shift vs. doing something like assisting Law Enforcement on a rescue mission. Infantry MOS during a State Emergency means you help out anywhere doing anything. Not necessarily an Infantry task like patrolling or crowd control or guard duty. Kind of like backfill for work details.

Everything from deliver food, fill sand bags, riot control to fighting forest fires.
If you see a video of troops after a disaster, chances are they are National Guard.

Quite literally, anything that the governor and Adjutant General determine needs the assistance and expertise of National Guard Soldiers, regardless of rank or MOS. From my time in the Guard, troops have supported: high water rescues, clean up of train derailments, flooding control/prevention, rescuing lost hikers, law enforcement man hunts, check points, communication bridges, emergency power generation, hauling and handing out medical and emergency food supplies, temporary shelter operations, riot/crowd control, and the list could go on.

In a State ordered activation, the J3/G3 will direct and match Guard resources to the request from competent civil authorities with and ROI that supports the requirements within the legal boundaries for the funds appropriated to support the event.

In other word...Semper Gumby.

It all depends upon the nature of the call up. You will do what that call up needs you to do. Do not look to be combat missions in New Jersey but stranger things could happen?

National Guard call ups are based off the disaster and the MOS needed. You aren't going to call up a bunch of 11Bs to rebuild a road for example. As a result, infantry are not high on the list for call up in an emergency. If/when infantry get the order it is to do menial tasks such as fill sandbags, run check points etc. Every now and then there will be infantry doing grunt stuff that aligns with training such as riot control or building searches, such as what happened in New Orleans during the Katrina aftermath.

Your unit will be working for FEMA under Homeland Security charters doing anything you can think of. Some State Deployments are under your Governor prior to an emergency situation in preparation to protect properties and facilities. Good example is hurriicane or flooding projections. No matter what the reasons, you will work your asses off with minimum sleep and MREs.

We worked with police to clear a flooded neighborhood and the guarded the homes against looting. 0300 was a serious time of the day.
