What does "pending replacement" mean on soft orders in the Army?

The orders originally came with the base and brigade info. Now the orders also say "pending replacement". Any idea what pending replacement means?

My son is at AIT and when they first came through, it was not on his original orders. Now it is.

It means they are about to replace your son with a US Army Soldier!

I am guessing that it somehow relates to the fact that the first duty station is not fixed in stone. Have your son take a photo and send it to you so you can show it to a nearby recruiter. I bet they can help.
