It can also mean making hard decisions for the benefit of someone despite their wishes. A loyal person does not just blindly follow, they will also confront and do what is needed for the betterment of the person or cause they are loyal to.

One aspect has sacrifice attached. Keeping your country your service, your associates in your thoughts when situations, bad or good, arise. Their welfare as being equal to or more important than your own, even if that sacrifice is needed. Even when it's neutral, there are some decisions which should be influenced by loyalty. It often doesn't cost anything, and keeps you feeling good.

When you recognize loyalty from others, it's sweet and rewarding.

Loyalty is telling some busybody we haven't been deprogrammed, yet. Loyalty is a matter of privacy, a million dollars' worth of training, is all. Something that's none of their affair, they're willing to pay us money for, to do something bad with the information desired, is hands off. We're taught, even if we have top secret clearance, unless we require that information in the performance of our assigned duty at present, we do not have a need to know. It's better that way. What does the word loyalty mean to me?
It's the willingness to commit to something no matter what. You can have loyalty to a person, a brand, a company, a town, a group of people, a belief and many other things. However, if you are truly loyal to whatever it is, you support it, stand by it, behind it without question. In some cases be willing to die for it. It doesn't seem to matter if it makes sense or is supported by any logic or reason. You just know it.

To me, loyalty means unconditional love. Actually, everything…when drilled down to most common is unconditional love. Loyalty is holding space for someone without judgement as they process through whatever, whenever until they themselves come to an acceptable understanding—which you guessed it—is based in unconditional love.

In a word - TRUST! I know you have my back just as I have yours! If I fall, you’ll catch me. If I’m hurting (mentally or physically), you’ll help me through it! But, LOYALTY MUST be a TWO-WAY STREET or it will not hold! You can’t expect loyalty when others learn you don’t give it back! That’s why TRUST is such an integral part of loyalty! Loyalty is earned, it cannot be forced or coerced. Loyalty means you’ll never put them in a compromising position! You’ll never ask them to do something morally or legally unethical because that would compromise their integrity and livelihood, and destroy all trust. Loyalty doesn’t mean taking the fall for a criminal, it’s not Mafia-style loyalty (which is why many who were perceived as loyal, were successors at their own hand), it’s the highest form of respect and trust a person can give and receive.

Loyalty means to me that one has a level of trust for whom they are being loyal, willing to give the benefit of the doubt, not allowing those NOT in the know of the situation control your sentiments and willing to put oneself in personal harms way in order to tell them truth. It also has to do with being courageous enough to make hard decision in some cases, when the person/group to whom you are being loyal is going to get hurt because no one else in the proverbial room is willing to identify the "elephant".

My concept of loyalty, is the unwavering dedication of ones own self and property to the empowerment, enrichment and advancement of another individual or grouping. Providing ones personnel integrity to stand for justice and equality throughout, while defending those who otherwise could not. Loyalty and support are, to a degree, synonymous. Support falls into a variety of different degrees and ways you can be true. Loyalty, however, is a higher calling. It's more of a regal calling to be loyal to our God, family, country, corps.... and ourselves.

I know it sounds corny, but loyalty is just part of a personal code I've tried to live my life by. Loyalty, is for instance, taking a vow before God and keeping that vow until your death or sone other unforseen incident. It's part of my code to try not to lie, steal, cheat or covet my neighbor's possessions, wife, etc. And I NEVER break my word after I give it; unless I forget! (My memory isn't too good) ☺️

I was in the army for 5 years. I spent 15 months in Iraq. I was raped several times, publicly sexually assaulted, and my team leader tried to traffick me to some Iraqis. No one showed me any loyalty. I showed the army loyalty by continuing to perform my duties under direct combat conditions, despite the abuse of my fellow soldiers and chain of command. I showed loyalty to my unit by continuing to follow the orders of those who had broken my trust in them, because the mission was my first priority. I was utterly alone, but I kept pushing. I went on raids, patrols, and intel missions despite the abuse of my fellow soldiers. I fought in the battle of Baqubah and the troop surge in Baghdad. I was good at combat operations, but I was treated like trash. I was sexually assaulted in front of a room full of my fellow soldiers- which they seemed to find fucking hilarious. I was loyal as a dog even though I was beaten down emotionally and physically. At the end of the deployment some soldier wrote my name on a bathroom wall calling me a whore. My loyalty was untarnished and I earned an honorable discharge after my 5 year contract. My unit showed me no loyalty in return.

I was drafted many years ago into the Army. To be blunt, I did not want to go At that time, some draftees were moving to Canada to avoid serving. I never considered doing that. That's because I am loyal to my country. It doesn't mean you accept everything our country (and military) does. I didn't approve of the Vietnam War. But I still did my service. I look back on it as one of the most interesting times of my life, even though I never went to Nam. Loyalty is teamwork, it's saying thanks to this country for our freedom here.

Being supportive when your friends/family are making bad decisions, and standing by them, enabling and supporting them get help rather than washing your hands and walking away. As an analogy I feel loyalty is like Plexiglas. It's transparent and you don't always see it easily. Some folks use it as thinly as possible and mostly for personal decoration; For them It cracks and breaks easily. The word loyalty means everything to me. In this world we live in we will always need someone by our side. Also with loyalty our word is all we have. Once that's broken it's hard to trust or believe in that person. Loyalty is staying true to yourself and others. You do it not to get something out of return but because you are true to yourself. When I joined the military I knew that my brothers and sisters next to me is depending on me just as much as I am depending on them. I learned to trust believe and have faith in myself and ensure I'm as real as I can get. If I'm not loyal to myself I cannot be loyal to others. Also you can not be negative. You need to stay positive. In my life and everything I have been through and defeated through. Loyalty in my opinion is the most important characteristic to have than any other.

The word loyalty goes along way within and out of our ranks. Loyalty represents someone no matter the consequences, no matter of opinions, no matter of anything will follow and support you without hesitation. Loyalty runs deep. I had a good conversation with a few battles once and we all asked one another about bone marrow. Two of us would hands down give one another the bone marrow in any situation but the third said he wouldn't help he'd keep it. In the event that a life of your battle would be bone marrow or his death.

To be loyal you must be willing to oppose negative actions- verbal or physical- against that entity, even if it means you must forego your own physical or mental wellbeing. Pure loyalty begins with a conscious choice by an individual to be fully committed to something or someone. The origin of loyalty can spring a strong emotion like love but unlike love loyalty is a choice made out of logic & reason and usually outlasts wishy-washy emotions. I would much rather deal have loyal employees and/or people around me than people who claim to "care" in some way. Political leaders have many people who do not "like" them but they are loyal and carry out what needs to be done.

As a disabled Vet I see that its hard out there for our returning men and women. It means helping and listening to each other. Take a little time out of your day. In my experience, loyalty is the commitment to making the "How" happen, even when the "Why" isn't always present. For instance why should I stand by someone's side when it complicates my life. Why should I stay with a company or service? Sometimes loyalty is undermined by opportunity, odds, grief, etc. Loyalty comes by staying committed and tethered to the outcomes of the situation.

Loyalty is, contrary to popular belief, natural. It is not something you work to obtain. It's derived from a love and passion that you have for someone/something. When you truly care for something you will naturally devote your loyalty to it. No matter the circumstance or audience you face you would sooner greet the grim reaper before compromising your relationship or the status of whatever it is you are loyal to and you'd be happy to do so.

Loyalty is important in both professional and personal aspects of life. Loyalty means being there for each other. For instance loyalty to a business that you frequently shop or visit. Healthcare professionals that you trust explicitly. I have a doctor that is amazing and he generally cares about each patient and how to try and help with natural alternatives rather than regular medications that can cause addiction or other health issues. He is more concerned with the patient than the money he gets from doing his job. I am so loyal to him I pass out his business cards to people who need a respectable, honest and trustworthy pain management experience. Loyalty to family and friends that they can count on you or you count on them. Without loyalty there is no trust really. I am loyal to some people who certainly don’t or didn’t deserve it.

To me, loyalty means steadfast dedication to a nation, set of principles, a cause, an individual or group of people to be truthful, honest, scrupulous, and trustworthy by word and deed. Loyalty implies to me telling the truth even if it causes pain or sorrow to myself. Standing on the truth even if standing alone.
