SPC Private RallyPoint Member 1300997

Last drill, I talked to my readiness NCO about a slot for BLC(WLC). "No problem. Actually, let's do it right now." Was the reply. At this point I was an E-3 PFC waiting for my SPC orders, five months overdue. He goes into ATRRS and plugs in my information; I get an email stating that "E4 SPC Weaver" Is in a Wait Status for the course. Now in ATRSS, the status is "Waiting on Reservation." Now I've been a SPC for a month or so and the status has not changed. Can I do anything? Should I do anything? I truly want more than anything to go through this course as soon as I can. I have SSD1 finished, current weapons qual, well above passing APFT, and every requirement other than time in grade for Sergeant, so I am certainly excited about moving forward. Any advice? What does "Waiting on reservation" mean in ATRSS, as opposed to "Valid Reservation"? 2016-02-14T03:25:44-05:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 1300997

Last drill, I talked to my readiness NCO about a slot for BLC(WLC). "No problem. Each class has a max amount of Soldiers. Anything other than reserved means you are on a wait/stand by list. If someone that has a seat does not meat the requirements or if someone drops out, then they will pull from the wait list.
Your ATRRS operator should be able to see if the course is full and where you are on the wait list. If you really want to get a guaranteed seat in the class, look at another course date. I encourage you to start looking over them and talk to other NCOs in your unit about how they prepared for it. The application goes from unit -BN-BDE-State- then ends at NGB
B. Every state has quota allowed for every school and if the unit did not project for X amount of Soldiers to go to that School, then the state has to request additional seats for a school
C. The unit also needs to be putting in orders, the soldier needs to ensure the travel orders are being input

So long story short waiting on reservation means you have about 3-4 levels that need to process the reservation then you have two more levels , orders and travel orders.

The more you know Response by SFC Daniel Faires made Feb 14 at 2016 8:36 AM 2016-02-14T08:36:04-05:00 2016-02-14T08:36:04-05:00 CW3 Private RallyPoint Member 1301319

Wait listed means the class is full and your in queue to pick up a seat if someone drops. Valid reservation means you have a confirmed seat. Within a certain period, those seats "belong" to the unit and any Soldier sends to school, has the seat reserved. Once you get into a certain period (60 days, I think), unused school seats get reallocated within the command and personnel put into the course with an unreserved seat (Waits) pick up those seats and their waits roll to reserved.
After that, if their are more students than seats, the schoolhouse has the ability to accept a number beyond capacity based upon how many students they can handle and in some cases, expected attrition rate from the APFT and other tests that wind up sending troops packing for home early. With the amount of no-shows and PT failures, you can sometimes snag a seat that way. Once your school house approves your slot for the class, you should see the confirmation of that. Call the school house sometimes they make exception for one or two soldiers.
