What duties and responsibilities should I expect going into AIT as a prior service Sgt? Will they have me housed differently?

It depends on what AIT, but typically the prior service are separated from the initial entry training students. You'll be told to show up at PT formation and class formation. They are dead serious about staying away from the IET students and messing around with one will get you UCMJ. Other than that, you're on your own time once class is over.

Your question is intriguing. I do not have any significant or veritable knowledge in this matter, but I have been trying to locate a group of folks that have experience with the transition back in. Ive been in contact with a few fellas that want to reenlist, but can't seem to get recruiters to take them seriously. That said, I hope to learn more about your experience via RallyPoint as you progress so I can pass it on...or at least have another person to whom I can redirect the questions about reentry. AIT is AIT- since it was a different service and we don't know how long you were out- it should be just like any body else. Same billets, same classes- tho you should ace them, and normally you would be put into a leadership position. I came in 73 and 2/3 of my platoon was SVN vets, who had been E3-E6 and where now E2-E3. I learned one hell of a lot from them!

The 3 soldiers that reclassed to 11b and were in my class, came in 4 weeks into my OSUT and were not housed differently. They were in the barracks with us.

We had a Sergeant from the Air Force get his own room and also got a Sunday pass. I would imagine they will do that or something similar.

How was the 11b OSUT? I’m heading to benning for the same thing pretty much. E-5 prior service marine going 11x (hopefully 11b)
