So my request to ship out earlier got denied and I'm planning to defer my enrollment and go to school in the spring to get Basic/AIT all done at once.
I was wondering if anyone had experience/knows anyone who missed a semester of school for training and what the effect was on their schooling?
Or just in general, your thoughts on it (or benefits/downsides)? I'm going to do it, I just want a more peace of mind knowing others approve/have also successfully gone through it.

I'm going to miss the fall semester of my senior year due to ait. You shouldn't have any difficulties. It's basically the equivalent of taking a gap semester/year.
However, depending on your MOS and college, you may get credits that will knock some electives off your course load, so you may be entering school a little further along than square one.

It depends on your school and how determined you are to graduate. You may be able to take summer courses or do other things, but check with an academic adviser.
