What habits or traits have you taken with you into retirement?

I have a few that my wife reminds me of from time to time.
1. change up my route
2. checking my 6
3. sit with back to the wall
4. finding my exits
5. avoiding stuff on the side of the road
6. adjusting my gig line

Just a few. What about you?

First, I was never in combat. Only 1 training mission in Germany I was injured in.
I find myself :
1) being untrustful of people
2) clearing doorways
3) checking for a tail
4) stepping into shadows to observe surroundings
5) answering doors prepared to fight (form side of door or other safe position)
6) walking softly to avoid noise
7) checking gig line
8) avoiding crowds
9) sitting where people are not behind me
10) walking at night in dark areas ot avoid being spotted
11) Taking alternate routes to prevent routine
12) checking my route in front of me ahead of time in case of unforeseen trouble
13) packing day pack even for simple trip to store a block a way (ultra preparedness...)
14) polish my boots

I am sure there is more.. but that is me.

Check your gig line!!?? I've got one "button down the front" shirt that I've worn maybe four times (wedding/funeral/and something else) since I bought it after retirement....that was in 1992!!

I still don't walk across the grass, still doesn't feel right when I do it. I still say "negative" when talking on the phone and many times in person. My shoes are still tied when I'm not wearing them and my pants are still hung buttons/zipper out.

Eyes open at 0500. If I'm on time, I'm late. Avoid any lines, hence refuse Disney or any theme park. Can't stand stupid even more. Notice things most passengers wouldn't on cruise boats. Pay attention to Amber Alerts. Jump when someone's phone yells "CAPTAIN, you have a message." A friend cranks the volume up on that one just to annoy me.
