Join the national guard soon there after and recieve a dishonorable. What will happen to my educational benefits i.e gi Bill. Do they disappear? Or does the active duty Trump the National Guard? What happens to an individual's educational benefits, after they get an honorable discharge in active duty but a dishonorable in the guard? 2018-01-23T00:20:04-05:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 3284643

I was just curious, but if I recieve an honorable discharge from active duty. They sometimes will allow the individual to retain a retirement if they are due one, but that usually only happens if there is family involved.
I have never seen a Dishonorable Discharge that didn't involve a felony conviction. I had an issue in the guard that was leading down that path but there are ways around it and you can fix whatever issue there is to receive an honorable discharge.
