What has been your experince dealing with TRICARE as a retiree?

I have only had good experiences in dealing with TRICARE. I have never been turned away for specialty care and the specialist I have had to see were outstanding. Am I just in a TRICARE friendly area?

I use US Family Health Plan here in Southe Eastern PA. I have had no problems what so ever. USFP is another choice we hvae oither than TRI-CARE!

I'm 48, my wife is 68, we have Tricare Reserve Select, and they often mistakenly submit her medical expenses to Tricare For Life, assuming I'm retired when I'm not. It's a pain in the ass.

The quality of care and availability of appointments has never been an issue. My problem stems from the fact that I was once Active Duty, and I am now a dependent. At least every couple months, the system decides that I'm my own sponsor, and starts submitting treatment under my social. I can usually tell because when I go in for an appointment, they call my husband's rank and my name. A few times, I've gotten a notice in the mail saying that I owe money because I'm no longer entitled to Tricare benefits since separation. However, I've never had a problem getting it taken care of and switched back to my husband. It is an extra pain to deal with though!

Absolutely fantastic and that includes throughout wife's battle with cancer. Actually had a couple of her doctors call TRICARE the Cadillac of health insurance from their standpoint.

The best. We were worried when my husband had emergency surgery for a life-threatening illness, but it was great insurance.

I have had a bad experience with TriCare on 2 separate incidents.
Medical bill that was never paid took about 2 month to respond.
I file a complaint and got a nasty
reply..
I rely solely on my private insurance
