First and foremost, my family. With their support and understanding, I realized that what I came home with was normal because after all PTSD is your brain's normal reaction to an abnormal situation. Second, my therapist helped me by teaching me ways to work WITH PTSD. And lastly my fellow veterans here and elsewhere helped by providing me people that I can turn to when I feel lost. Education about myself. We changed and we are not the same. I went through several counselor# and psychiatrist and one helped me to the point, I would say she saved my life. It’s hard to face the demons but it’s worth the fight. Learn all you can about PTS and yourself. It’s ok to be angry or shed some tears. It’s your life and it’s worth living.
