That was part of the news I heard. Americans returning from Cuba can bring $400 worth of merchandise (without paying customs, I assume), and that includes Cuban cigars and alcohol.Response by CW5 Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 17 at 2014 6:16 PM2014-12-17T18:16:31-05:002014-12-17T18:16:31-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member374736<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Wait... when did the embargo get lifted and why?Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 17 at 2014 6:20 PM2014-12-17T18:20:32-05:002014-12-17T18:20:32-05:00LTC Paul Labrador374740<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If they're legal, why would I want to smoke them anymore..... ;o)Response by LTC Paul Labrador made Dec 17 at 2014 6:25 PM2014-12-17T18:25:17-05:002014-12-17T18:25:17-05:00PO2 Corey Ferretti374818<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hmm if they do i want to try one to see what all the talk is about.Response by PO2 Corey Ferretti made Dec 17 at 2014 6:55 PM2014-12-17T18:55:15-05:002014-12-17T18:55:15-05:00Cpl Private RallyPoint Member374851<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Not a fan of Cubans personally... to harsh...Response by Cpl Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 17 at 2014 7:14 PM2014-12-17T19:14:47-05:002014-12-17T19:14:47-05:00Cpl Private RallyPoint Member374866<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Most of the good cigar makers in Cuba went to the Dominican Republic or swam to Florida.Response by Cpl Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 17 at 2014 7:23 PM2014-12-17T19:23:09-05:002014-12-17T19:23:09-05:00SPC Matthew Kersey374982<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I don't know about the embargo ever being lifted. But I live here in Tampa, and right down the street is Ybor City. It was founded upon a Cuban Cigar factory when the Spainards came up through Miami an went north. The factory is a historical landmark now. But you can get hand rolled "Cuban" cigars at multiple shops. Only difference is the taste. But the still use the same outer leaf just not the tobacco. May not be a true Cuban but it's as close as you'll get!Response by SPC Matthew Kersey made Dec 17 at 2014 8:30 PM2014-12-17T20:30:47-05:002014-12-17T20:30:47-05:00CW2 Private RallyPoint Member375055<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>people only coveted them because they were illegalResponse by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 17 at 2014 9:06 PM2014-12-17T21:06:14-05:002014-12-17T21:06:14-05:00SSG Tim Everett377229<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes.Response by SSG Tim Everett made Dec 19 at 2014 8:20 AM2014-12-19T08:20:44-05:002014-12-19T08:20:44-05:00MSgt Niclas Svensson842239<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Even if the embargo is completely lifted, I still see years of legal battles over trademark issues. Major Cuban cigar names like Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Punch, and many other brands are currently sold in the US by Dominican cigar factories that were started by people who left Cuba when the embargo was placed. So even though the Cuban companies had the name first...the Dominican companies own the trademark in the US. As it stands right now...the Cuban companies, the originators of the name, have no legal basis to sell thier product in the US unless they change the name or win the court battle. Sad really...Response by MSgt Niclas Svensson made Jul 24 at 2015 9:15 PM2015-07-24T21:15:09-04:002015-07-24T21:15:09-04:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member1077830<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I love cigars bro, hate cigarettes though.
