I am certain, that NATO would look Russia dead in the eyes and say..."Tsk Tsk. Why did you go and do that?" All the while shaking the index finger at Russia

NATO might be reluctant to answer, but I hope the USA will stand up for and do what's right. I voted #1 (Game ON!), with #4 (Russia won't do it ...) a close second in my mind.

I would like to say that we would respond with strength no matter what, but I think it's actually more likely to depend on which NATO member, and which conditions Putin was able to manipulate to justify the actions.

Capt Richard I P., I would like to think that NATO would respond in a forceful manner. Frankly, I think it would be an imperative. NATO would look to the U.S. for leadership, and I would hope that we would respond forcefully as well; another imperative. I'm not sure the current administration would be so inclined. Number one.

Capt Richard I P., the appropriate response by NATO members including the USA depends on the type of attack, extent of the attack, provocation or lack of provocation, what else is at risk within the region, and the available options.
WWI was started because alliances formed in which obligated nations to respond to attacks on fellow members - an assassination in Serbia initiated the chain of events which became WWI.
The move to bring in many of the former east European nations, which were behind the former iron curtain, to NATO membership has taken away the buffer between NATO and Russia. Russia has been attacked several times from western Europe from Napoleonic times through WWII. Russia has a reasonable expectation that the West wants to limits its power and influence in the Baltic republics which include many ethnic Russians as well is the the former Soviet Republics which border the Black Sea.
If Russia is directly attacking a member state, NATO should respond in kind but not escalate the warfare if feasible. Non-military means should also be used to the greatest extent including embargoes, freezing of assets as appropriate, pressuring of non-NATO allies to support the effort, etc.

NATO enjoys America paying the lion's share of any and every burden and when we need them most, you can hear a cricket fart. When trouble is in their backyard, the American flags come out of the closet and get waived again. I still look forward to some rebel uprising in Acapulco, Hawaii, Pago Pago, or Tahiti and will endeavor to serve again.

Option 4 is a cop-out. A non-starter. The question postulated an attack. OK. So it's a done deal. NOW everyone who voted #4, what say ye?

How should NATO react? In kind. Like for like. Have we forgotten Czechoslovakia, 1938?
How will NATO react? Sanctions. Words. Threats. Negotiations.

Some say war with another nuclear power is too horrible to contemplate. Really? What about being under crippling persecution?

I remember what my uncles said about fighting the Nazis and Imperial Japan. Not again. No way.

We have already seen how NATO and the US under current leadership supports our Allies. We ignored our obligation to Ukraine and to Georgia. We spent three days discussing how to word our stern letter to Russia after they invaded Ukraine.
