What information is available on the 62nd Medical Brigade at Fort Lewis?

Does anyone have any information on 62nd medical brigade at Fort Lewis? I've been offered this for PCS, but I like to do my research first. Im a 68w and have been on the line most of my first contract so i'm hoping to get some hospital time in at some point. Any information helps

Take it if you want to get some college time in before you get out, Or have some Clinic or Hospital time for resume experience.
You may also like the environment.
For most people that I have known that have been MEDAC that is where they stay.
Easier to get Promoted.
that is if you want to get promoted, Witch is always good. And when you get out you get looked at for jobs better.

If you're offered it, you better take it before someone else does. Every other medic in the Army who's been on the line is looking at the same requisition and its there until someone else grabs it.

That has always seemed to be a good outfit. I was at Lewis 2004-2008 and again 2013-2014 and had many medic friends that were in 62nd. They seemed to enjoy it.

They fall under the hospital commander. Not sure how much clinical time you'd have but I hear good things.

62nd Med MDE is full of field units with no combat arms attached anywhere. Their main goal is to provide medical support to the area that they are assigned. I was with one of the BNs from 11-14 I didn’t do anything clinical unless I was deployed. But it could be different from you. I will say his vein. There it was a unique experience and I was able to learn a lot of good information from many SNCOS

SPC, 62nd MED BDE is a great duty assignment for medical personnel, as already mentioned below. Under the BDE, you could be assigned to the 47th Combat Support Hospital (CSH), 56th MMB, or within the actual BDE headquarters. it is very rare in a garrison environment assigned to a medical field unit to get clinical time inside a hospital. If you want clinical time, I highly recommend whoever you get assigned, take your NREMT and get state certified. Then you can either find a volunteer fire department or maybe an ambulance company to work part time for. Some hospitals will hire EMTs as well. I worked part time during school school in an ER off of my EMT cert.

Medcom is dissolving and DHA is taking over all MTFs. So any unit you go to you could have “duty” at a hospital while still training and deploying with a forscom unit.
