Many activities for both enlisted n officer students. If you have or allowed a POV it increases your capabilities to check out the areas, like panhandle of FL.

But now to your question. One thing that trips up Flt Ops students is requirement to learn and be able to type... Most of my flt Ops Troops said that was one of the hardest tasks. Map reading was another, and not topographical maps but the flight aerial maps. This is blamed on fact that there is much more symbols and characters than a ground map as you are also reading aerial n flt paths/routes. Radio communications also varies from normal ground to ground procedures as you also must learn FAA procedures as well as military. This is because you may be stationed on joint military/civilian airfield. As such you need to be able to communicate with tower that may be operated n control by a civilian agency, thus knowledge of FAA procedures.

Bottom Line: Pay attention to lessons; work in study groups, use the strongest/knowledgeable classmate to assist/recover a certain topic/lesson and work as a team; do not get overly distracted with free time/partying (you are there to learn, plenty of time to party when you get to permanent duty station. Remember that you may have the lives of 3 or more ppl in your hands at any given time and they could include civilians.) Have the common sense to ask for help or clarification if you don’t u clearly understand something. Remember there is no such thing as a stupid question! And do take the time to rest your brain cells, avoid burn outs. Again common sense logic, dictates, “when in doubt, ask the question or request assistance.” You are there to learn, to be “Above the Best!” SGM Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 22 May 2018 00:09:58 -0400 2018-05-22T00:09:58-04:00 Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made May 22 at 2018 1:33 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-15p-ait-like-what-is-the-basis-of-what-i-will-have-to-learn?n=3651318&urlhash=3651318

I’m late to the party, but they pretty much covered the basis of what you’ll learn. Easiest thing is Aircraft Designations but be prepared for TOC Ops. Although you can switch between flight operations and the S-3 Shop, TOC Operations is your bread and butter. Always keep pen and paper on you and get as proficient as you can on comms. Your battle CPT and battle NCO will appreciate that very much. I'm only in my second week of classes, so I might not be able to answer your question completely, but I'll try to answer to the best of my ability. Our instructing sergeant told us that 15Ps are often jacks of all trades. Our primary learning basis will obviously be flight operations. If you'd like to get into further detail, so far our class learned how to read METAR reports, verify flight plans, confirm flight badges, and work with CAFRS to keep proper records of flight hours etc.

UPDATE: I've graduated last year in July. To update my list of academics, we also learned how to read maps, conduct radio operations, and work with TOC OPS (Tactical Operations Center). Honestly, as long as you put in an effort, none of it was really hard. 1LT Ting-Yu C.
