LOL. Deforms. What a joke. When I was leaving my Tech Training base, I missed a cross-base bus after outprocessing. I decided not to stand there waiting for a half hour. In the process of walking across Keesler AFB, it started to sprinkle. Which rapidly became a full-blown, pouring down in sheets, rain storm. By the time I got to the barracks, I was soaked thru, squelching in my shoes. Hurriedly changed uniforms, moving my pins from one felt beret to the spare. Stuffed the wet clothes in a bag in my luggage, and went to meet the cab. By the time I got from Biloxi, MS to Minnesota, my felt beret had shrunk to doll-size. I was shocked.

My drill sergeants all put on a plastic cover on their hat when it started to rain.

SSG David Gentile - That is true... that the old things, the old ways are often amazing. I have never understood why we have to constantly overhaul things that work perfectly fine. Newer is not always better.
