When I got to the Unit, there was no filing system or historical data on hand. Everything pertaining to the Unit was a clean slate, as all the previous personnel were scattered to the four winds. I had to build this Unit's orderly room from scratch, with no support and no knowledge of what the hell I was doing. Six months in, and I think I am doing an amazing job. The personnel records are in order. People are getting paid right. Awards and NCOERs are to standard.

Yesterday, I had a pre-inspection to help me get ready for the actual inspection on 2 Mar 2015. My biggest hiccup, is ARIMS. What the hell is ARIMS? I mean, I undertsand it's a filing management system that dictates how long records and documents should be maintained. I didn't find out until yesterday that was what was with all those stickers on the rows of filing cabinets was for. However, I dont have any filing cabinets, and I dont have enough paper and toner to print the entirety of 93 folders of documents that I have built. Everything is stored electronically on my shared drive, which I have administration rights to.

So, I guess here's the big question: do I need to store all this stuff onto the ARIMS site, since I can't physically store and secure these documents? How the hell do I use ARIMS in the first place? I have 2 days to figure this out.

Invite others to respondWhat is ARIMS and what can I use it for?2015-02-27T01:47:02-05:00SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member500901

So, I'm assigned as my Unit's Admin NCOIC.
