You've had the training. Just do as your told and remember your training. Other than getting lost a lot in the first few weeks, it is like any duty that you have had prior. Follow instruction, get your qualifications completed, and enjoy...<br />HT2__IKE CVN-69 __94-97 PO2 Michael Angstadt Tue, 29 Mar 2016 07:12:39 -0400 2016-03-29T07:12:39-04:00 Response by SCPO Reid Flade made Mar 29 at 2016 8:51 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-duty-like-on-the-uss-harry-s-truman?n=1411795&urlhash=1411795 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As an SR, you'll probably start out doing 3 months of mess cooking. This might be dish washing, working in the bakery etc. Then you'll go to your division. There's are a lot of bad influences to get caught up in, so pick you friends carefully and just listen and do what you're told to do. It's quite the experience, so enjoy it. Mess cooking isn't the most glamorous job, with some jobs having some long hours and crappy schedules. Just remember, it's only 3 months and then done. The real fun starts when you get to your division. Work hard and keep a positive attitude and you'll be fine. Don't get married. lol SCPO Reid Flade Tue, 29 Mar 2016 08:51:15 -0400 2016-03-29T08:51:15-04:00 Response by MCPO Douglas Pennington made Mar 29 at 2016 12:32 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-duty-like-on-the-uss-harry-s-truman?n=1412624&urlhash=1412624 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I did my last cruise on the Truman and it was my most enjoyable cruise. That was back in 2002, but have known a lot of people that have served on her since that say she has not changed. Life in general on a Carrier is much easier than one might think. There are so many opportunities onboard these days that will keep you completely occupied. You will meet new and amazing people. Some of the best in the Navy. Listen and learn your first few months and it will become easier as time passes. The hardest part will be learning your way around but within weeks you will have that mastered and be able to go any where on a moments notice. Truman. She graduated bootcamp in July 2015 and after A school she was sent to the Truman. She is currently deployed and is really enjoying it. She has "grown up" quickly and has matured so much! Super proud my daughter followed my foot steps! You will do just fine. Remember it's a job and you must do it to the best of your ability.
