Is it possible to maintain a civ career or are there short deployments every 4 months? Thank you. Psyops have a much higher optempo compared to all the other Reserve MOSs but deployments are not what they used to be. Everything really depends on your unit as each have different responsibilities. If you want a higher optempo, join an airborne unit. Either way, you definitely won’t be deploying every four months. I suggest contacting a recruiter. They can perhaps put you in contact with someone who is credible and can provide accurate information. Deployments don’t come often, most units try to fill from their company or other companies within their battalion.

Lots of 2-4 week orders if you maintain proficiency and relevancy to the unit. While it's not Special Operations Forces (SOF), you're still part of a specialized team. You'll likely be attached to a conventional force, which can provide a different perspective and set of challenges. I can't speak for everyone, but from what I've seen and heard, it's a mix of challenges and rewards. You're part of a specialized team focused on psychological operations, which can be fascinating. One thing to keep in mind is the balance between your civilian life and your reserve duties.
Also, the camaraderie in the PSYOP community seems pretty strong. You're working closely with others who are passionate about what they do, which can be super motivating. Of course, like any lifestyle, there are pros and cons. It's all about finding what works for you and embracing the journey.
