What is it like being a woman in PSYOP?

I am looking for women and men in PSYOP who can shed some light on the life of a woman in PSYOP. I would like to find out how well women are utilized in this field and how well they like the field. I would also like to know what sort of roles women play in PSYOPS. A little about me, I'm completing my officer packet now, taking an Intel certification course, learning French, I'm 26 and very likely to score 100 on PT test and do very well on the ASVAB so I'm hoping this slot is open. I hear PSYOP is slightly more tactical than CA (Civil Affairs) which I prefer, although as a woman I'm not sure if I'll do anything tactical in my military career. (Please correct me if I'm wrong, that's why I'm posting). I do appreciate your time and willingness to share your stories. Thank you!

There really is no difference between being male or female. Women are utilized just as much as men. There may be additional opportunities available to you ( like Cultural Support Teams or CSTs), but otherwise, there really is no different. As an officer, you wouldn’t do as much on the tactical side as enlisted. The higher the rank you make, the less tactical/more planning you do. If you are reserves, you will support conventional army units. If you’re active, you will support SOF elements (ODA teams, MARSOC, SEALs, etc). You will enjoy being in PSYOP.

Some of the most professional Soldiers I’ve worked and trained happens to be female PSYOPers. The regiment has both tactical and regional (operational/strategic) capabilities and as Soldier gains experience will work on both. S/he most be proficient on both types of missions.

PSYOP is an open field and it's conditions are for you to engage.Now that said,women have a different perspective as does a male in perception,implementation,and conditions.I would recommend as much psychological courses as well as world history to allow the full aspects of the duty.On a personal note their is a movie you might want to watch for an off the wall rough indication of the capability =The Generals Daughter 1999.Yes it's just a movie but it's grossly indicative.So take it as a grain of salt,it isn't the real world.As a former soldier,I actually was a welding foreman on it.

I am 26 as well and I just scored a 72 on my ASVAB with a 107 in ST which qualifies me for PSYOPS. Just wondering what’s your current progress with PSYOPS and how far along are you?
